Just in case you were wondering, that is indeed a huge golf ball in the back of that truck.
No, I'm not sure what it was doing there. I don't think there are any major golf tournaments happening here in the near future (not that I'd know if there were). I have to wonder what would happen if that golf ball had fallen off of the truck somehow and gone rolling down the road.
