Presenting...

The "What the Heck was I Thinking" purse. Or maybe, just maybe, we should call it...the Butt purse. At least, that's what Chris called it when he saw it. Yes, it is indeed made from a pair of my old jeans. Why? Well because I have a seemingly never ending supply of jeans with holes in the knees and I simply refuse to throw away perfectly good denim. I'm always trying to think of ways to use them up. I made one pair of jeans into a skirt, cut up several pairs to make wallets, and have one sitting on my desk with some other fabric just waiting for me to have time and motivation all at once. Here's a shot of the rear...er, back of the purse.I think if I had it to do over again (which I don't plan to, so don't even ask), I wouldn't have put the oval piece in the bottom. I did it to give it a bit more space (and because I couldn't get the bottom edges even), but it just about ruined the shape and it looks funny besides. Its all lined inside with the same fabric that's on the handles, which means that I can turn it inside out if I want to. And the best part is...I left all of the pockets open, so I can stuff things in them, in addition to all of the space inside. Pockets were really the reason I started this whole thing. I wanted a purse with pockets so I don't have to dig for my phone, or a pen, or whatever I'm looking for. While I was driving I was thinking through how to make this purse. It went together more or less like I'd figured. Which is pretty good considering I basically cut it all by eye without much measuring. Now all I have to do is figure out what to fill it with.

I've heard of this before and I think they are an awesome idea. I think I've even seen patterns for them at the fabric stores.

Good job. Well done. Very cute and creative.

I think I'm liking it! I'd be interested to see what it looks like inside out, you know with all of the useful pockets on the inside ??? Just curious. You may be onto something!

I had a bag like this one before, my grandma gave it to me. It was handy, and had a fun unique style to it.

One thing that I have done with old jeans are made skirts, The skirts aren't completly out of the denium. I use other scrap fabric, mostly and do what I call my "patchwork skirts." Evan asked me to post some pictures of it on my blog so you can see it. http://oh-the-sites-that-you-see.blogspot.com/
