Produce Paradise!

If I went to the store and came back with this
how much would you figure I spent? Chris and I talked about it on the way home. We figured that at normal retail price, this was $75-$100 worth of produce. Our total cost through our co-op (not including gas to drive and pick it up), was just under $30!! I think the 25lbs of round tomatoes would have cost more than that in the store! There's actually more there than it looks like. The box in the back is the tomatoes. The white colander is filled with apples, pluots, and peaches. I've never eaten a pluot- I'm rather looking forward to trying them. There are half a dozen ears of corn, an eggplant, another container of strawberries (which are already washed and in the freezer), a bag of green grapes, probably 2 lbs of string beans The plastic bag in the center is our order of "Mexican ingredients." It turned out to be about 3 sleeves of whole garlic, 4-5 large white onions, half a dozen limes, and about as many jalapeno peppers, plus assorted amounts of green onions and cilantro. Our refrigerator is full of produce- the tomatoes are in the blue container with some ice packs.
The pickup site itself was quite a bit more crowded than last time- maybe because there were so many different pick-ups happening at the same time- peaches, tomatoes, spices, AND the normal produce baskets. It was all quite organized though, and they had several volunteers checking people off of the lists. We did get to take the case that the tomatoes came in, which was good even though we had brought a big container to transfer them into. I actually over-estimated how much 25# of tomatoes would be- these are big ones! We're planning on making and freezing salsa and spaghetti sauce, and I found an awesome-looking recipe here for slow-roasted tomatoes.
